Dress Code

An article in the Christmas issue of Todays Bowlers raised the issue of attracting new member to the wonderful game of bowls. This article highlighted the issue regarding the dress code and how it needs to be modernised.

The article included a photo from 1964 and it showed a group of 'old' men playing a county game wearing white trouser, shirt and tie. Fast-foreward to 2007 and guess what, the dress code is still the same.  How is this suppose to appeal in this day and age!?!

Why is it not possible to get players to dress in club team colours perhaps polo shirts and have white or coloured trousers etc. this would make the game look attactive to young and old alike.

Small steps at a time are fair enough but something needs to be done, perhaps starting at club level. There are a number of smart sporty bowls shirts widely available and recognised by the WBA.  How about introducing these in the the clubs internal leagues. Lets put some colour on the green!!

A thought to be pondered by many, and comments and greatfully welcomed to this issue.
